Flights of fancy....

Thinking about why from the sky

I write, sitting above the clouds, as I fly from Heathrow to Munich for a meeting at adidas HQ in Herzo in Germany. Writing in the air has always worked for me. No email or social media distractions and the sun, clouds and sky for inspiration. How lucky am I to be off on this adventure, to see one of the best workplaces in real life and talk to the inspiring, amazing and kick ass woman that is Aki Ben Ezra, who is VP for HR Strategy at adidas.

It’s an intimidating prospect too. So much has happened since I last saw Aki. I’ve been bereaved in several ways: I’ve lost my dad and my mum in law, as well as the business I loved. But their loss has helped me treasure so many things: the fine balance of life, the family and friends I do have, the joy in light through trees and dancing in the moonlight. The last years have helped me figure out who I want to be, what I want to do and how I’m going to get there.

It’s funny taking a new business to a client who knew your old one so well. I’ve worked hard at Cosy Meerkat’s positioning, working out the why, the mission and trying to get across what we’re passionate about. But meetings like this make you question what you think, challenge what you’re saying and make you consider everything you’ve thought very carefully – a really good thing!

At Cosy Meerkat we work with people who want to challenge, who want to change the nine to five slog and make a difference in the workplace, whether that’s by implementing a four-day week or developing a new and innovative recognition and reward strategy, for example. The work we’ve been doing over the last few months has been gorgeously challenging. Some of our highlights include writing, designing and developing an all employee digital newsletter into a global automotive company, developing a strategy story and strategic narrative for the same client. We’ve developed beautiful collateral for the launch of a CareWorker recruitment app called Care Friends and have signed an on-going retainer with them to continue the great work we’ve already done. We’ve done workshops a plenty, talked a lot and shared a lot of ideas and creative thinking that has helped the clients we work with.

With all this prep, have I changed my thinking about Cosy Meerkat? I’m very proud to say absolutely not! We’re agile, innovative and passionate in our approach. We want to work with people who ‘get it’ and really want to take action to make work better, in whatever form that comes. We want to get involved from the very beginning in the projects we take on and work to the very end, driving change and building business performance and productivity through people.

I’ll shut up, but I’ll just finish by saying I’m proud of what we’re creating and the work we’re doing. And thanks to the brilliant team of Cosy Consultants and Management Meerkats who work alongside me, we’re getting more and more repeat business which shows we’re definitely doing something right. Now for some case studies……
